Last month we celebrated our third anniversary as a brewery, in April we mark another milestone. Two years ago, we brought Maris home from the OSPCA and adopted her as a working cat. Hard to believe that when she first came to us, she was feral and not at all very friendly. Oh, how things have changed! She is now best buddies with Pete our Brew Master and happily greets all of our customers when they come by. To celebrate this occasion, we will be releasing a special beer in her honour; Maris Homecoming American Pale Ale. The 2021 edition is a west coast style pale ale, chock-full of pine and grapefruity goodness from the American hops. We will also be releasing a special limited edition Maris Beer Mug. A portion of the proceeds of this beer will be donated to the OSPCA. Look for that release Friday, April 23rd.
We have another very cool release coming in late April that is a collaboration with the Society of Beer Drinking Ladies. This year we decided to do something a little different. We'll be taking part in their Eternal Hoptimist Virtual Beer Fest that will be held on May 14th from 7pm to 10pm.
We have brewed a beer called Bon Vivant Horchata Brown Ale. What the heck is Horchata you ask? Horchata is a rice milk beverage that originated in Spain, but is very popular in Mexico. It is flavoured with cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate; all the best stuff from Mexico. We've taken all these things plus a healthy amount of oat milk and put them a sessionable 4.5% Brown Ale. It'll be like an iced mocha which is perfect for warm spring days.
Bon Vivant will be one of the beers in the Eternal Hoptimist Party box, available now, but only until April 30th. All are welcome at this Virtual Beer Fest so get yours before they sell out.
And finally, we'll have a number of favourites back later this month including Diamond Park Mild and a fresh batch of Alpine Dunkel just in time for Easter.
